1. Digitization

The starting point for creating a giclée print is a high-resolution digital file. This is achieved by scanning the original artwork with a special scanner (Cruse Fine Art Large Format Scanner), which digitizes the painting with impressive geometric precision and colour fidelity. This technique is currently used by the largest museums worldwide.

2. Colour management

This entails colour profiling, the process of creating and applying International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles to devices. This ensures the accurate capture of colours on devices such as monitors, printers, etc.

3. Digital proofing

This is the process of simulating how a digital design will appear in print by viewing it on a calibrated monitor using accurate ICC colour profiles. It allows designers to predict print colors and adjust their work before physical printing.

4. Physical proofing

A physical sample is created using the final print setup (ink, paper and printer), in order to preview the final product. This method ensures colour accuracy by providing a reliable reference for the final quality of the print.

5. Final Printing

Archival inks are used for the final stage of printing, which provide indelible colours with a wide dynamic range. The fidelity to the original painting is truly remarkable. The Loustas Fine Art Estate produces giclée prints on either paper or canvas. The printing paper is 100% cotton (fine art paper) of museum quality, with great pictorial depth, and is usually framed in glass. Canvas, on the other hand, is distinguished by the timeless character given by its texture, and is typically mounted on a canvas stretcher prior to framing.

6. Certificate of Authenticity

Each giclée print is numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity including the details of the print itself and the original painting from which it was produced. It bears the embossed stamp of the Loustas Fine Art Estate and is signed by Asterios and Tarsi Loustas.

7. Packaging and shipping

Each giclée print is shipped rolled and securely packed in a protective shipping tube. A Certificate of Authenticity and a pair of art handling gloves are included.
